So, your kid wants to play football. That’s awesome! Get him or her out there on the field playing the all-American game!
If you’re a new football mom or dad, congratulations. You’re in for years of excitement. However, we know that you’re new to this, and you may have been looking at other players, wondering why all of a sudden these kids look so bulky. It’s because under their jerseys, they’re wearing a lot of protective equipment. The purpose is to protect his or her body as much as possible against the collision that will inevitably occur on the football field.
Equipment Is Mandatory
When playing football, injuries are part of the game. In fact, football has the highest injury rate of any sport. Accordingly, you want to make sure that your child’s body is protected as much as possible.
What Exactly Do You Need?
First of all, you need a helmet. And this is where you don’t want to economize. Think about it – what is your child’s brain worth? If he or she takes a hit to the head, the consequences could be devastating.
Youth football helmets are available in prices that range from $150 to $300. You don’t really have to go to the limit – just make sure that your child’s helmet delivers the protection that’s needed. Just as an example, Xenith Epic Football helmets, and the Xenith X2E Youth football helmet are in the low price range, but offer all the protection that your child will need on the field.
If your young football player is a boy, he’s going to need a jockstrap and a cup. Children of either sex will require mouth guards, knee, hip and thigh pads, and gloves.
The main piece of equipment, though, is the helmet. It’s the only thing that’s standing between your child and at the very least a concussion, and at the worst a catastrophic brain injury.
Helmets have, of course, been worn for decades on the football field at all levels. They’ve reduced the risk of brain injury, and over the years, they’ve become improved and refined. Just as an example, the Xenith X2E youth helmet has been refined to include air-filled shock absorbers for increased concussion protection. It hit the market in 2008, and has been protecting young players ever since.
Finding the Right Helmet
Did you know that nearly half of all football helmets that are in use at the high school level have degraded padding, are improperly reconditioned, or don’t fit properly? That’s because they’ve been used and re-used over the years.
Ideally, a used helmet should be re-certified annually by an approved re-conditioner. After three years, it should be discarded.
Do you really want to entrust your child’s safety to a reconditioned helmet? Or one that’s been modified to suit another player?
Realistically, new helmets don’t cost all that much. There are all sorts of manufacturers out there who can provide your child with a helmet that is his and his alone, and that will take him through years of play. You can investigate a number of quality helmets online, including Xenith Epic football helmets and the Xenith X2E youth helmet.
Only the Best
There’s no reason why your child should have to use league-issued helmets and other equipment when you can obtain that equipment so easily and cost-effectively through companies like Safety First Sports, your provider of Xenith products for your child. We’ve been providing Xenith products for some time, and we can vouch 100% for their safety and reliability.
Well worth the wait just to see the smile on our grandsons face when he opened the box! As I am typing this he is asleep with his helmet on! His words the best present ever!

Looks great! Very sturdy. No impacts yet because spring drills and camp are in a few weeks but my son likes the fit and feel. I picked a mask from the choices given and it was supposed to be titanium but it feels heavier than a titanium mask of similar size. Otherwise very light compared to the Riddell Revolution he was issued by his high school team. The F7 and Xtech shoulders pads I purchased for him pair very well

I bought my Riddell Speedflex and received an email about how my selection was not available. The customer service rep worked with me to get what I wanted. It was a great experience and shipping was fast. 10/10 would recommend.
